Do’s and Don’ts in Pokeone

What we DO have in Pokéone:

Pokémon Exp+ (+10% exp) buffs in Hour, Day, and Week forms.
A 50% boost in exp. gain from all sources on pokemon that are not your own OT (Original Trainer)

What we DON’T have in Pokéone:

Exp. Share
Lucky Egg

Wild Battles

Wild battles can be a great way to gain levels for pokemon. But, always be aware that with every encounter theres a chance for a shiny pokemon to appear so ALWAYS be mindful in what area you are hunting and take an appropriate sync with you just in case. The sync can be fainted and it will still work. It only needs to be in the first slot of your party. More info on syncs can be found here

Pre E4

Kanto:

The best places to level in Kanto before the elite 4 will be Seafoam Islands and Victory road and make sure you haven’t skipped any trainer battles. The trainers on routes 12-15 and 16-18 and 19-21 are easily overlooked sometimes. Trainer battles are good experience for trainer and Pokémon levels as well as pokedollars so DON’T SKIP THEM!

Johto:

The best places to level in Johto before the elite 4 will be Dragons Den, Victory road and Safari Zone and make sure you haven’t skipped any trainer battles. The trainers on routes 40-41 and 47-48 and 45-46 are easily overlooked sometimes. Trainer battles are good experience for trainer and Pokémon levels as well as pokedollars so DON’T SKIP THEM!

After E4

After the Elite 4 in Johto your best place will be Mt Silver. For Kanto you have 2 options which are Mt Silver and Cerulean Cave.

After B/W 2 story

After the e4 you will be able to make your way to Black City and White Forest which are to the right of Nimbasa city. Above White Forest is route u14 and the dark grass in this area offers 60+ level wild pokemon. The dark grass below the bridge in Village Bridge in Unova also offers high level wild pokemon to grind on.

Daily Trainers / Bosses

1. Nimbasa Stadiums: Small Court and the Big Stadium is where you can battle 5-6 trainers daily and their pokemon are all between lv.  60 – lv. 70.
2. Black Tower: The pokemon in here start around lv. 50’s on the first floor and end around lv. 80’s on the last floor.
3. White Tree: There’s 2 trainers per floor and the first trainer will have lv. 50’s and second trainer will have lv. 70’s. It’s the same for each floor.
4. Unova E4 (daily): The E4 members’ pokemon will be in the 60-80 range.
(This can be repeated over and over as long as you faint against them)
5. Kanto E4 (daily): The E4 members’ pokemon will be +-5 levels from your trainer level.
6. Johto E4 (daily):The E4 members’ pokemon will be +-5 levels from your trainer level.
7. Sevii trainers: Island 1, 3, 5, 6, 7 have trainers that can be challenged daily. their pokemon are lv. 70 – lv. 80

Switch training

Switch training can be a great way to level up low level pokemon. The way you do it is by leading with the pokemon you wish to level. When the battle starts you switch to a higher level pokemon to defeat the enemy pokemon. This way your low level pokemon is safe and receives exp since it technically participated in the battle.
To take it a step further I suggest using a choice banded u-turn and a choice specced volt switch pokemon to aid in switch training efficiency. Personally I use Scizor as my u-turn pokemon and specced t-thunderus for volt switch. Switch training with this method allows you to get exp from EVERY pokemon on a npc’s team.

1. Lead with your low level pokemon
2. When the battle starts, determine if your u-turn or volt switch will do the most damage and switch to that appropriate one.
3. u-turn or volt switch to one shot the enemy pokemon and bring back in your low level.
4. At the start of the next turn, repeat steps 2 and 3 until the trainer NPC is defeated.
5. Victory

A short video showing switching training can be viewed below.
