2.1 Archetypes

2.2 Team Structure Principles
Each Pokémon must earn its slot. If a Pokémon doesn’t wall threats, generate momentum, or remove win-con obstacles, it doesn’t belong.
Avoid redundancy, not overlap. Shared weaknesses are okay if resistances complement each other. Example : Amoonguss + Hippowdon both fear Ice, but still cover different kinds of threats. The problem comes from overstacking weaknesses without good pivots.
Recovery density defines identity. Stall → 5 or more reliable recovery users. | Balance → 3–4. | Bulky Offense → 1–2 (they trade HP for tempo).
2.3 Building Strategie
Team building begins with identifying what you plan to win with or win around. There are two valid approaches — one starting from offense, one from defense — but both end in the same place.
Approach 1 — Building from the Win Condition
A win condition isn’t always an offensive sweeper; it can be a defensive anchor that wins by exhaustion or denial. Building from your win condition means constructing a team that removes what stops that piece from doing its job — on both sides of the field.
Goal: Create an endgame where nothing outspeeds or walls it.
Offensive Plan: Use Magnezone to trap Steel-types such as Ferrothorn and Skarmory that wall Gyarados. Keep hazard pressure active to chip Zapdos and other Flying resists into KO range.
Defensive Plan: Maintain safe pivots like Chansey or Tyranitar to absorb Electric coverage from Zapdos or Rotom forms, allowing Gyarados to enter later without risk. Protect its setup window by managing opposing speed control and avoiding unnecessary chip damage.
Whether your win condition sweeps in three turns or wears the enemy down over thirty, your role as a player is the same: Protect it until the board state favors it — then execute without hesitation.
Approach 2 — Building from a Core
Sometimes you start not from a wincon but from a defensive or synergistic core — the structural base of your team. Common examples: Toxapex + Gliscor for physical/special balance | Rotom-W + Scizor for pivot synergy | Chansey + Skarmory for full stall anchoring.
A core provides stability and resistance overlap; from there, you look for the offensive path that core enables. Example: A Toxapex + Gliscor core naturally invites Grass and Psychic types — pairing it with Weavile or Hydreigon is logical. Cores don’t just defend — they shape the meta subset your team engages with.
Most solid teams begin from one perspective and finish from the other. A team built around a win condition will require a stabilising core to support it. A team built around a defensive core will require a defined win condition to close games. Both converge toward the same end state: a structure that sustains and executes its chosen win path.
- Fill defensive gaps once the offensive or core skeleton is in place.

3.1 — Win Condition Theory
A win condition defines how your team secures victory — through direct offense, positional control, or resource denial. Every team plays toward one or more identifiable win paths. Understanding these paths dictates how you trade health, position, and information during a match. Playing without that understanding turns every decision into guesswork.

Identifying Your Path to Victory
- At Team Preview – Determine which of your Pokémon can realistically close the game if its checks are removed. Identify the opponent’s win condition to prioritise defense.
- During Play – Re-evaluate as sets are revealed. Pivot between offensive and defensive win paths as needed.
- Through Trading – Every exchange should either remove a check or preserve your own wincon’s entry window.
Goal: Create an endgame where nothing outspeeds or walls it.

Role Chaining - Ask: Which pivot grants my breaker a safe entry? Which breaker pressures the checks to my cleaner? Which pivot resets after the close attempt?
1. Magnezone traps Steel-types → opens path for Gyarados.
2. Gyarados pivots to Chansey vs Zapdos → preserves setup window.
3. Once Electric control is secured, Gyarados commits and sweeps.
Dead Links – Any slot that duplicates coverage or fails to generate progress. Replace it. Takeaway: You don’t need perfect turns — you need clean hand-offs.

1. Controlled Chaos and Habit Shaping
Occasionally using “unreasonable” moves breaks predictability and resets tempo.
Establish habits first, then punish them when the opponent adjusts.
2. Safe Plays as Data Collection
Use low-commitment moves to scout sets and tendencies early.
Collect information before adding volatility.
3. VoltTurn and Double Switch Sequencing
Example: You have a Diggersby at low HP vs Hippowdon.
Switch to Noivern to avoid Earthquake.
Expecting Chansey to enter, double back to Diggersby to create a favourable matchup without taking damage.
VoltTurn is safe tempo control; double switching is predictive pressure.
4. Information Manipulation and Lure Play
Exploit assumptions about your sets. (Banded Diggersby / Scarfed Diggersby)
Hide coverage until it matters (e.g., HP Ground Comfey vs Heatran).
5. Regressive Plays and Tempo Resets
When each player is trying to predict a lot, sometimes making the most obvious play gets you momentum (ex : hitting what’s in front of you instead of what is expected to be switched in).
If you are heavily behind, making very risky plays can help make an inevitable loss into a second chance. If you’re ahead, making those same plays can turn a nearly sure win into a saddening loss.
6. Hazard Loops and Resource Denial
Control the clock through attrition: hazards, chip, and PP drain.
Sometimes a check can be removed if there is the presence of hazards for example. Forcing a defog or rapid spin from your opponent can create the momentum for your to push through.
7. Hyper Offense Philosophy
Velocity over safety. Every turn must create irreversible progress.
Trading 1-for-1 is fine; stalling is death.
Hesitation loses faster than misplaying.

👍Suggestion : Make the icons smaller so it becomes more concise and easy for the viewer, and no need to make it more complex with extra weird categories like eg: splitting revenge killers into 3 parts. Also, refrain from force fitting anything that might look like an option, eg: Palossand in Sand seems fine only in hindsight but makes no sense in practicality
